TSSAA Transfer Rules and Bylaws

  1. As a member of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA), Lipscomb Academy follows the eligibility rules as outlined in the TSSAA handbook. Copies of this handbook are kept in the Athletics Offices. Since TSSAA eligibility rules are extensive, please feel free to contact the Lipscomb Academy Director of Compliance with questions prior to accepting an unofficial interpretation or contacting the TSSAA office. These eligibility rules cover a range of subjects including, but not limited to, age, academics, transfers, outside participation, etc. TSSAA Constitution and Bylaws are available under “Membership Essentials” on the TSSAA website here.  

  1. Lipscomb Academy adheres to all TSSAA policies regarding the transfer of students during or between school years from one school to another. If you have participated in high school athletics at a previous school within the past year and are transferring to Lipscomb Academy, please contact our Director of Athletic Compliance to discuss your eligibility.


Lipscomb Academy Eligibility Requirements

  1. In addition to TSSAA eligibility policies, Lipscomb Academy also employs its own policies regarding attendance, academics, and conduct. These policies can be found in the Lipscomb Academy Athletics Handbook.

  1. Once a team has been established, team members are committed for the entire season. If you resign or are dismissed from a team during a season you may not participate in another sport until your current sport concludes. This includes playoffs. Tryouts for another sport will be allowed for the next sport season, but you may not begin practices or games until the previous season has ended, barring exceptional circumstances. Both coaches will agree on a time frame for tryouts.
