ABOUT
We are a Christ-centered community preparing learners for purposeful lives through rigorous academics and transformative experiences.
Participating in athletics does more than build strong athletes: it teaches the values of hard work, teamwork, perseverance, responsibility and endurance. Mustang student-athletes are shaped spiritually by coaches who are passionate about partnering with them to encourage the development of character and faith as they seek to glorify God on and off their fields of play.
The Lipscomb Academy Mustang athletic program extends the borders of the classroom in a unique way to equip student athletes with experiences that shape them into young women and men who are prepared to be leaders in life and who confidently walk their journey long after they leave our campus.
We believe playing sports does more than create strong athletes: it teaches the value of teamwork, perseverance, responsibility, endurance. Mustang athletes are also shaped spiritually by coaches who are passionate about shaping them into Godly young people full of character and faith. These are lessons that will continue to shape you long after you take off the Mustang uniform for the final time.
We invite you to come and experience what it truly means to be part of the Mustang Family!

The Lipscomb Academy athletic program has a long history of changing the lives of young men and women, while competing at a championship level.
From the very beginning of the school in 1891, athletics has been an important part of student life. In 1932, the girls’ basketball team competed for the first time. In 1935, the high school teams became known as the “Mustangs” after the boys’ basketball team chose the name from a list submitted by the student body. Football launched that same year, taking a hiatus from 1938 to 1967.
Since the early days of Lipscomb Academy, numerous athletic programs have been added. Today, more than 95 percent of sports-eligible students at Lipscomb Academy are involved with athletics and participate in one or more Mustang athletic programs.
Along with college-preparatory academics, excellent fine arts programs and a life-shaping spiritual formation emphasis, the Mustang Athletic Program is an important teaching tool through which our coaches not only challenge students to reach their full potential on the playing field, but also teach lifelong lessons as they seek to build character and to help spiritually form our student athletes.
Lipscomb Academy Athletics is committed to fully developing the mind, body and spirit of our student athletes within an intentionally Christian environment.
We desire to shape our students with transformational experiences led by passionate Christian coaches dedicated to preparing them for leadership and life beyond athletics. We realize that athletics is a key component of a holistic approach to education helping our students thrive and excel all for His glory and honor.
Lipscomb Academy Athletics are grounded in the school’s mission to equip our students to love to learn, learn to love and live to serve. This mission is at the core of what drives our programs, coaches and players to pursue athletics in a way that is distinctive and brings honor to Jesus Christ.
Spiritual formation is a key aspect of what makes Lipscomb Academy unique, and our athletic department makes a concerted effort to encourage and disciple each coach, team and athlete involved in Lipscomb Academy athletics.
The Lipscomb Academy fitness curriculum is a year-round strength and conditioning program designed explicitly for students grades 7th-12th. Through instructional fitness, students are encouraged to use their talents and reach their highest potential in the world of sport and wellness.
As we coach our students to view their bodies as God intended - made in the image of Christ, we hold the student body to the following two standards: Be pleasing to God and be a blessing to your community.
Student-athletes are prepared for competition through instruction from highly qualified strength and conditioning instructors who desire to meet student-athletes where they are and challenge them to set and achieve higher goals. Upon completion of the program, Lipscomb Academy students will realize and understand the dynamics and importance of living a holistic, healthy lifestyle and will leave the academy confident and competent in the world of health and fitness.
